Business software
Tools that handle the parts of a business nobody went into business to do. Records, documents, day-to-day operations, and the administration that piles up quietly until it becomes the whole evening.
Hypernova Rising Inc.
We build practical digital tools that take real work off the desks of business owners — and we develop new ideas for what technology can do in the fields it has not properly reached yet.
An independent software company. Small by choice, built to last, and answerable to the people who use what we make.
What we are for
Most business software is designed for large organizations and then shrunk down to fit everyone else. We think that is backwards.
The people who feel the weight of administration hardest are the ones with no department to hand it to — the owner-operator, the contractor, the small firm where one person is also the bookkeeper, the dispatcher and the filing clerk. They are not a smaller version of an enterprise. They are a different problem, and they deserve software written for the problem they actually have.
So that is who we build for first, and it is the standard we hold everything else to.
What we do
Different surfaces, one discipline: understand the work properly, then build something that holds up under it.
Tools that handle the parts of a business nobody went into business to do. Records, documents, day-to-day operations, and the administration that piles up quietly until it becomes the whole evening.
Ideas taken from a sketch to a shipped product. Design, engineering, release, and the long tail of support and maintenance that decides whether a product is still worth using in three years.
Work on where digital tools can go next — new applications of technology in industries that have been passed over, and in fields well outside the ones software usually arrives in first.
How we work
Software that is going to hold somebody's records had better be built like it. We test what we ship against the ways it can actually fail, and we ship when it is right rather than when it is due.
We stay small so that decisions are made by the people doing the work, and so that the answer to a hard question is never that it belongs to another department. It keeps us honest and it keeps us fast.
We do not sell information about the people who use our software, and we do not build products that depend on doing so. Anything you put into something we made, you can get back out of it.
No promises the software cannot keep, in the marketing or in the interface. If a tool is not sure about something, it says so and asks, instead of guessing quietly and being wrong later.
Whether it is a problem in your own operation or an idea you want built properly, we would rather hear about it early than late.
